Clifford Beers Housing develops permanent supportive housing for the most vulnerable. Our commitment is to create thoughtfully designed, affordable and integrated communities to enhance the lives of individuals and families who have experienced mental illness and homelessness.



The Housing Development Intern will assist the members of the housing development team in housing development tasks for projects in various phases of development. In addition to providing support to the housing development team on tasks such as site feasibility analyses, identifying sites, and modifying proformas, the intern will focus on researching and identifying park and open space grant opportunities for the Isla project. The intern will also identify what programs and opportunities would be available for future housing development projects. This is a great position for those interested in learning more about affordable housing development.

The position is part-time, for a minimum of 16 hours per week. Hours are flexible. This is a paid three-month internship with the possibility of a three-month extension upon review.



  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to make reasoned decisions with limited information
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities, work, and information as needed
  • Familiarity with the MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel, Word, and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in representing CBH to colleagues, constituents, funders, and public officials
  • Passion and support for CBH’s mission



  • Perform tasks necessary to further housing development activities as directed by senior staff.
  • Maintain lists of tasks and regularly report on status to supervisor
  • Actively participate in project problem-solving and discussions regarding project strategies

  • Must have and maintain a valid California ID
